Teaching Physics and AI 25/26

PER-Grounded di Faculty Learning Community

The introduction of innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not enough to significantly improve physics learning. It is essential to develop teaching materials that take into account students’ difficulties, activate productive reasoning processes, and foster high-level science skills, as well as adopt active teaching approaches. The goal is to harness AI to create effective teaching materials based on research in physics education, carefully monitoring the potential and criticality of these innovative tools.
In this action, it is intended to create a Faculty Learning Community (FLC) of physics teachers to:
  • Identify physics topics to be used as case studies.
  • Develop research-based teaching materials and activities, including using AI.
  • Study the feasibility, potential and critical issues of using AI tools.
Planned actions include:
  • Creation of the FLC with regular meetings and a dedicated platform.
  • Development and sharing of research-based teaching materials integrating AI for identified case studies.
  • Seminars/workshops with national and international experts on the use of AI in physics education.
